I start 2016 with a moment of reflection.
I found this mixtape I did which my friend from my youth, Spida really liked, so I gave it to him.
He was quite a character, always finding new people, linking up with all sorts of people & passionate about music. I forged some strong & lasting friendships though him.
Unfortunately he passed away a few years ago & I found the tape had been passed to my family & back to me after a clear out.

No, thank you. As much as I do like filling my face over the festive period (as my Wife will willingly testify), occasionally, despite the commercialisation & consumption, there can be moments that make you press pause as it were & think about things that have deeper meaning
Music is brilliant especially when it brings back memories of better days when everything was cool and worries were the furthest things in our minds, and if it can bring back happy thoughts of old friends here and gone then that's when it is most beautiful, i love being somewhere and hearing a song on the radio that can bring you right back to those happy times and put the best smile on your face, sorry about your friend Alph, but i think it is great that you still have this reminder of the good times, i bet you both had a great times out and about, and that's as it should be, we all get one chance at it so enjoy every minuet we can with family and friends,,, lovin the music, Circa 80s if i am correct, i have fond memories of those days myself, this brought a nice smile for me, dancing and having fun, the best times, thanks for sharing these, i enjoyed these grooves very much, great music and good memories. ♥ it.

If I'm honest, it made me a little emotional, almost as much as when I was in the process of preparing & uploading this mix.I do have many fond memories of Spida (& some pretty odd ones!), but he certainly was an energetic & charismatic individual.I didn't hear about his passing until sometime after as I'd left the area, but it did leave quite a hole in my life.
You have a point, life is short so make the best, positive use for it. I'm not sure I'll be dancing naked in a rainy field anytime soon, but if I can make a d difference to one person's life (particularly my family), that will be something. xx
