I recall visiting a record store in Southgate, CA, back in the day where renowned DJs frequented to acquire their HiNrg vinyl records. I believe the place was called Johny's TV and Stereo Repairs. I established an account, and the owner would send me a curated selection of records that were making waves in East Los Angeles. The allure of HiNrg was undeniable, and it became the inspiration for this mix – a journey into HiNrg heaven.
This musical adventure played a pivotal role in my DJing journey at Cal, where I brought the latest HiNrg hits to the forefront. Join me on this nostalgic HiNrg journey, reminiscing about the times when we were slender, dancing with the carefree spirit of a rejected ballerina from Fire Island in East Los Angeles and the Culture Center at Cal. It was the happiest of times before Freak Beats took over.
