Nukes Go Green?
The Ecomodernist Manifesto wants us to have our environmental cake and eat it, too. The more development, the more nature we can save. The key to all this, according to the manifesto, is increased urbanization and cheap, low-carbon power. But, lest you think this is another call for solar and wind power, guess again. Ecomodernism instead hitches its star to what many in the environmental community consider anathema: nuclear power. Cesar Penafiel is the Director of Analytics for a new think tank, launching this week, called Environmental Progress. In the past, Penafiel has worked with the International Energy Agency and was the co-director of the Columbia University Coalition for Sustainable Development. Penafiel spoke with Monday Buzz host Brian Standing.
