Nebulous space-funk-disco theme today, as the Mighty Ryders' far-flung peace-anthem 'Star Children' got a spin early on & had us thinking cosmically. But really, opener 'Threshold' by the Steve Miller Band, set things in motion, sounding like the title sequence for an epic galactic film. Truth is, it's the prelude to Miller's 'Jet Air Liner' - but, hey, cashed-up crazy people are booking future seats on outer-atmosphere passenger trips to the moon & mars these days while Virgin boss & airline magnate Richard Branson leads the space race! Miller's synths weren't alone wigging-out: the mighty Dexter Wansel (he of 'Life On Mars'), El Michel's Affair & Klaus Doldinger's German group Passport orbited tracks by Capricorn (a group led by Italian synthesizer-'Skywalker' Claudio Simonetti) & Eugene Bucknell ('Space Funk'). It wasn't all space themed, as evidenced by 'King Kong', krautrockers Amon Duul II, Johnny Otis & others, but we had fun.
