The Monster Maker (1944)

Where would the genre of horror be today without the flat-top of Boris Karloff's monster, or the demon-ravaged face of Reagan in the Exorcist, or even the zombified mugs of the walkers on The Walking Dead? Horror has always thrived on the ability to thrill and chill audiences, though the effect would all but be lost without some of the makeup magicians that have come along to create some of film's greatest monsters. This week, the Phantom Erik and Lester Reaper explore some of the elite makeup artists as well as take a look at another PRC film directed by Sam Newfield, 1944's "The Monster Maker" with J. Carroll Naish and Ralph Morgan.
