A guide to Bass music with Lamsi

Dutch DJ and producer Lamsi pays tribute to the club with a stomping selection of mixes digging into the highs and highs of Bass.

Bass

Bass music doesn’t just move speakers. It moves people, communities and entire cultural landscapes. Born out of decades of UK sound system culture, it has evolved to encompass everything from Jungle and Grime to UKG and Techno, constantly absorbing influences from diaspora communities and dancefloors around the world.

Few understand this better than Dutch DJ and producer Lamsi. His work sits at the intersection of club culture, diasporic sounds and the relentless forward motion of electronic music. The proof is in the pudding with his latest single ‘Nice + Slow,’ out now via Nervous Records and featuring London-based artist Saidah. It’s a club-ready collaboration that emerged through a shared love of dance music’s many undercurrents.

We asked Lamsi to curate a guide to Bass music, from the sweaty dancefloors of the UK to his Amsterdam home and beyond. “I’ve selected shows that reflect the sound and cultural landscape behind my approach to bass and club music,” Lamsi tells Mixcloud. “These picks represent different parts of the global club ecosystem that influence me. From UK and diaspora club culture to the electronic scene.”
