For this week's City Focus on Los Angeles we talk to three producers who have had a major influence on electronic music emanating from California: Santiago Salazar is well known as a member of Underground Resistance, Los Hermanos and Ican, and has recently set up a fresh label, Historiy y Violencia, together with John Mendez a.k.a. Silent Servant, our second guest, whose forward-thinking productions have recently invigorated the dub techno genre via labels such as Sandwell District.
We have further visited LA's tech-house pioneer John Tejada, whose prolific production work has graced the world's finest club music labels since the mid-1990s, and who has been running his own imprint, Palette Recordings, for just as long. Tejada is also one half of I'm Not A Gun, the acclaimed avant-rock/ambient project with guitarist Takeshi Nishimoto, whose fifth album, 'Solace', has just been released on City Center Offices.
