Trumped up charges are brought against Stephen that he was against the temple and Moses. Stephen retells the biblical history of God's people, to explain that he is not against the temple or Moses, but rather the Jews have things wrong. Not even God is as pro-temple as them, and so they have it out of proportion. Stephen says they have been rejecting God's messengers, including Moses, since the beginning. He rebukes them like the prophets of old and is put to death as a result by the Jews listening. Stephen's death shows us the hostility towards Jesus and his followers.
