Episode #9: Immortal Robots in Holy Week

Episode #9: Immortal Robots in Holy Week

This week we talked about Evan R. Goldstein's article in The Chronicle for Higher Education entitled "The Strange Neuroscience of Immortality," about neuroscientist Kenneth Hayworth's hopes to upload his own brain into a computer and have it put into a robot at some not to distant time in the future.  A suitably macabre subject for Holy Week, and one that lead to a deep discussion of the meaning of death, heaven, and the resurrection, and how the church can speak to an increasingly technological and scientific world.  Then we considered the final four saints in Lent Madness, and discussed the resurrection gospel.  But somehow the conversation kept coming around to the disturbing possibility of robots with human brains.
