Magic Carpet Tapes (side 1) - DJ Sasha Downunder, March 1992

Playing tracks by

Roman, Inner City, Mariah Carey, Nu-World, Gypsymen and more.

From a 1992 cassette mixtape, probably released by the promoter who bought him to Sydney. This is Sasha at the top of his game. Mixed on 2 turntables, the man like showcases the more vocal house and garage tracks of his record box. He even manages to make Mariah Carey bearable (but only just).
Anyone who doubts his reputation for lifting dancers off the floor need only listen to the segue between "Don't Lose The Magic" and "Get On Up" - a magic mix.
Side 2 of the tape is a separate, more progressive, mix.

Wow I was there too at Aztec in the Sydney basketball stadium. I went up to Byron bay the following week for a chill out away from the madness. Guess who I bumped into yep ! Sasha went a little thing in Nimbin arranged by the Welsh Embassy can’t remember the name but Jonjo did the flyers ..... no chill out but wish I could go back for a weekend to 92

A classic old Sasha Mix. He must have been about 22 when he mixed this!

An epic time to be Down Under. I caught Sasha & Graeme Park at Rat Party NYE '92. This tape I wore out and bootlegged countless times for mates, passing it out all through Thailand on way home. Still get goosebumps from this now, 22 years (and millions less brain cells) later.

Apparently he recorded this with Bill Wheeler, trashed, when he came out in 92 for Aztec, a rave put on by Children of the Vortex. He also played at Mars on the Friday night. Twas epic!

Thankyou so much I was there and my tapes were thrown away about ten years ago whilst I was overseas. First rave was Aztec in Sydney with Sasha headlining it was Easter 1992. This was one of my favourites. It was not the promoters who handed it out (the tape) they were called *Children of the Vortex* I bought the tapes at the event. Happy Days
