Deep, dark and dub,” best describes Jess Rox’s sound.
Born Jessica Alvarez, Jess grew up in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico and moved to El Paso, TX at the age of 15. Being a “border kid” is an important part of her identity.
Jess’s first rave experience happened in 1998, however, during her teens, Jess favored the nu-metal, rock, ska and reggae scenes of the time. An early and deep-rooted love for rock n’ roll permeates her personality and sound…and so does the dub.
With the boom of underground electronic music in the border during the early 2000s - particularly with the wave of minimal techno - Jess found a home and a true passion for the music. In 2009, began her music journalist career:; she then became Jess Rox, her chosen pen name, and later, DJ name.
Since 2012, she has experimented with the darker shades of electronic music finding her niche in deep - and dubby - tech house and minimal techno.
Stay tuned for some upcoming productions!
