Joel Newnham

You know when you hear a song that you haven't heard in ages and you didn't know what it was called or who it was by and you're like "Oh Wow!" You don't? OK just me then. It happened when I heard the Red Box track. The Pet Shop Boys loved their extended versions, the Introspective album said it all, even though Heart was from Actually. It really gave them a chance to experiment. I can't imagine Madonna singing Heart, think we dodged a bullet. I hadn't heart The Associates track before either, but a great tune. The Wham remix shows how OTT djs could make 12" mixes and they did. Always love a bit of Eddy Grant and Eurythmics, another great show Gary.

Thanks for those excellent comments Joel and glad you enjoyed the music on offer. I'm a massive Pet Shop Boys fan and boy did they use to do brilliant extended versions of their tracks, they don't seem to do them these days which is a bit sad. Agree about Madonna, she would have murdered "Heart"!

The Lemon Circus

How fantastic was that Wham extended version? Well if you need me to say brilliant then so be it BRILL!!!! Miss Mr Michael hugely, great to hear his pop legacy. The Associates had a great meoldy in that track which I'd not heard before. Red Box a lot of intro to the actual 7" version (which I had) Electric Avenue will be a classic forever, Madonnas Gambler not one of her big hits, but one I've played many many times (love Madonna shame she imploded up her own backside) Shellshock pure 80's synth pop ready for any soundtrack to any movie set in the 80s - perfect. Same goes for each time you break my heart (another Madonna penned tune) - my fave from this selection PSB Heart, which they had wrote for Madonna but never got round to asking her to record it. Good - they made it theirs and still sounds fresh :)

Agree with you on Madonna, she has totally lost the plot!! Her latest stuff has been crap. The Associates only had a few hit singles but Billy MacKenzie has such a distinct voice, the track I played is one of my favourite Associate's track. I never knew the Pet Shop Boys had written the track "Heart" for Madonna!! Glad they kept it for themselves.

Thanks for listening mate and for your comments, always good to interact with comments about the content in shows.
