The Lemon Circus

congrats on upload 200!!! So many tunes to choose - she bangs the drum - fine choice, rick astley?? I knew he was newton le willows which is middle of manchester and liverpool - so I guess he can fall into either - but top tune anyway. This is how it feels - sad news on Craig Gill who I saw whilst visiting The Salford lads club only last month where he was running his music tour, see the inspiral carpets are trying to get saturn 5 to christmas #1, they could easily do it with This is how it feels - a true classic. I can see a take that track at the end (now I know how you feel with cliff richard :) at least there's no solo material from robbie, gary et al. James had plenty of good tunes, laid is one of the best, and morrissey, you know me - he annoys and entertains in equal measure and he'll forever be forgiven for his outspoken claptrap so long as he keeps making music, everyday is like sunday one of his early recordings, played to death by me in my bedroom at high volume - he meant the world to me in those days and hearing it again takes me back to those days (nice memories but I'd not want to go back to those days - student living at home with parents... argh!) but the music was pure escapism. I wrote the lyrics in simply red stars on a valentine card when I was 16 :O how sad, the smiths, can't add anything else about them - they were why I was at the salford lads club - just fantastic. In fact i can't think of many uploads on mixcloud that would have rick astley, m-people and smiths all together. I think the idea needs extending with a tour of the British isles and give us eclectic trips to sheffield, liverpool, birmingham... - saves me having to visit these places in real life :) I'm still singing search for the hero (over the take that track, which to be fair wasn't their worst.... but certainly wasn't could it be magic :) here's to the next 200 mate

I have never been to the Salford Lads Club which is a sin!! I read about Craig Gill and his Music Tours he did, too young to pass away. Definitely agree with you about Morrissey, genius one minute then annoying the next, interesting idea to expand to other cities regards special shows, Sheffield and Liverpool definitely interest me. I love James, something about them, live they are awesome, probably one of the best live bands there is. Never been a lover of Simply Red, Mick Hucknell grates me at times. Gary Barlow I don't think has done a decent solo track has he?? Robbie got excluded regards solo material as he is from the potteries.....he is someone else that has lost the plot in recent releases!

Joel Newnham

Hard to pick 1 James track, so many classics.

Names can be deceiving, although I used to think fsol were from Bristol. In fact until now I thought Rick Astley was from Middlesbrough, don't know where I got that from :-/

I can just picture Rick Astley singing in a Geordie accent!!

Joel Newnham

but seriously what an awesome playlist. You could argue that Manchester is the music capital of Britain, not just the North.

White Lion Radio

It's when you do a show like this you begin to realize that Manchester have provided so many great bands and artists. Hope you enjoy listening to the show Joel.

What do you mean The Future Sound of London aren't on here?

White Lion Radio

I hang my head in shame....I didn't realize they were from Manchester, great band though by the way.
