Friedlich received his BFA in Jewelry and Metalsmithing from Rhode Island School of Design in 1982 and was honored three years later as the school’s outstanding recent graduate.
Friedlich’s jewelry is in the permanent collections of the Victoria and Albert Museum, London, the Smithsonian American Art Museum, the Museum of Fine Arts Boston, the Schmuckmuseum, Pforzheim, Germany, the Corning Museum of Glass, the Museum of Fine Arts Houston, the Mint Museum of Craft and Design, the Newark Museum and the Museum of Arts and Design. Friedlich served a term as President of the Society of North American Goldsmiths and also as Chair of the Metalsmith magazine Editorial Advisory Board.
