Scientists from Australian National University say they've made a big discovery that could help create drought-proof crops. The findings have already helped some plants survive fifty per cent longer in drought conditions.

United States financial market company C-M-E Group has announced it's going to launch its own Australian wheat futures contract, in partnership with commodity giant Platts.

The world’s two biggest suppliers of quinoa are now receiving just a third of the price they were four years ago. And, while the fall in price since 2013 wasn't unexpected, it is putting pressure on quinoa growers here in Western Australia.

A third generation wheat farmer from Kalannie in Western Australia and an engineer from Melbourne are the masterminds behind ECHO2, a system that burns farm waste - like almond shells and poultry litter - to create heat and electricity. The pair hope the project will help farmers turn a profit from their waste.
