Take Action News with David Shuster.

Brad Crelia, HIV/AIDS activist and editor of Hivster.com, talks with Daniel Marans, Executive Producer of Take Action News, about how Hivster.com appeals to young, alternative people with HIV/AIDS--a group left out by many of the traditional HIV/AIDS groups. Crelia affirms the need to improve awareness of HIV/AIDS and the harm it causes, despite the major advances in survival and quality of life for people living with the disease in recent years. Crelia also updates Take Action News listeners on opportunities to advocate for people with HIV/AIDS, including by supporting a resolution in Congress making discrimination against people with HIV or AIDS illegal. Currently, many states have laws that allow them to press charges against people with HIV or AIDS if they have physical contact with someone on the grounds that it endangers people who don't have HIV or AIDS. This flies in the face of basic science which has proven that HIV cannot be transmitted by saliva or other casual contact.
