In this episode, I'm going to talk to you about using goals and milestones to change behavior. Now here's one of my core beliefs. I have found that goals do not get the work done, especially in raising money for ministry and vision. "Goals do not raise money; people do." That's what my dad always said. That has been a core belief of mine for a long time. I've seen that play out over and over again, but I have seen that there is a relationship between goals and people making decisions.
We certainly know that goals can be motivating, in many cases, to people to getting things done and to making decisions about giving and moving forward. You've seen in giving campaigns the old thermometer. As the people are moving toward the goal, that thermometer is moving up, but there is another side to this. We also know from research that not everyone is motivated by goals.
