The Soul Stylists Vol. 3

The Soul Stylists Vol. 3

Playing tracks by

Solomon Burke, The Diplomats, Chuck Jackson, Ben E. King, The Impressions and more.

'The Soul Stylists' by Paolo Hewitt (& Paul Weller) was first published in 2000. Drawing on a collection of anecdotes and personal testimony, this book charts the course of the Modernist movement from the middle of the last century. It celebrates the clothes, lifestyle, culture, attitude, and in particular some of the music around which Modernism is centred.

The story continues with the sound of soul from the early to mid 60's. Here is a mix of music from that era based on the selections of Ian R. Hebditch, a Lecturer, and Ady Croasdell of Kent Records and the 6T's soul club; both Modernists.

Very pleasant collection of songs! Many great tracks, like the ones from Marvin Gaye. And nice to hear 'Suspicion' from The Originals. I'm going to play that song one of these days too.
