The head of the main lobby group for egg farmers says the supermarkets have "ignited a new price war" in their decision to slash egg prices. Woolworths, Coles and Aldi have dropped prices for eggs by as much as 40 cents a carton, with the most significant price cuts aimed at free range eggs.
