Jonathan Wilson Mix for the No Seasons issue

Jonathan Wilson Mix for the No Seasons issue

Playing tracks by

NRBQ, Big Star, Eddie Hinton, Leon Russell, Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers and more.

Inspired by the theme ‘No Seasons’, Jonathan Wilson and his drummer Richard Gowen, of North Carolina and Florida heritage respectively, trade tracks in a 10-song mix tape called "Southern Grooves". Wilson and Gowen delve into the very origins of Rock and Roll, Country Music and Blues, uncovering the timeless essence associated with the sounds of the American South. Unbound to any given notion of ‘seasons’ this selection captures how these artists, their songs and their grooves pass over time evoking memories of both past, present and the future by transcending eras and genres. These tracks remain influential and indispensable. They were not designed in regurgitated response to a particular musical fashion but more as a progressive statement. As with the creation of original ideas many of these artists sculpted innovative sounds, heard for the very first time — transcribing musical history as we know it.

So very cool. Early Sunday morning traveling rambling highways of the Internet and around a corner this came into sight and sound. Love it!
