In the beginning... While our most well-known version of the Nativity is a product of our first and third Gospels we call Matthew and Luke, let us consider our fourth Gospel of John's account. While Matthew and Luke give us a narrative which we wrap up in a single manger scene from the perspective of humanity, John gives us an account from the Divine perspective. This Christmas day, let us consider just what it means to us that Jesus was born into this world. Let us consider how we can bring the story into our very being and allow the truth and grace of Jesus to invite us into a new reality here and now. Let us consider the implications of the Word dwelling among us in flesh.
