Here's a wee tribute to the legendary John Barry, film composer extraordinaire and creator of the James Bond theme. Barry, who died on 30th January 2011, defined the sound of swinging sixties pop culture in his film and TV scores: Suave and worldly. James Bond, The Persuaders - If a man was living the high life, Barry provided the soundtrack for it. This mix features some of his lesser known Jazz sides recorded in 1960 with his orchestra plus rare Soft Cell covers of the 'James Bond Theme' and 'You Only Live Twice'. You also get some beat heavy remixes of Barry's James Bond hits 'Goldfinger' and 'Diamonds Are Forever'. I've added some more recent tunes that the master himself may have approved of, like sultry Adele strutting her stuff over Jamie XX's steaming Flamenco handclaps and the bubbly underground smash 'Orangeade'.
