Brooklyn. The Bronx. Manhattan. Queens. Staten Isle. With the ban on spoken rhyme in Europe, Rap was introduced in the Seventeenth Century by Peter Stuvesant and his Dutch settlers to what is now the City of New York. Fused at the first Thanksgiving with ancient drum patterns familiar to the native Iriquois, it took on the form of "Hip Hop" and spread like wildfire into the Twentieth Century. Sadly, Mayor Giuliani's ban on sampling and the subsequent banishment or destruction of all Akai & Emu products within the City limits has led to a downturn in productivity that we - as the listener - are at pains with to this day. Enjoy this rare collection of New Yorkan emcees as they spit their way across all 5 Boroughs.
