Psalm 90:12 says, “Teach us to number our days aright, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.” From these words we are reminded of a truth that we are all aware of, even if we don’t like to admit it or think about it much. It is the truth that life is brief. Life goes by faster than we want it to. However, this isn’t the only thing the psalmist is trying to remind us of. There is a subtle truth being communicated here that if we really knew how many days of life we had left, it would change the way we live. If we knew for sure when our number was going to be called, it would influence the decisions we would make. It is a challenge to answer this question: If I only had one month to live, how would that change the way I am living?
