Let’s face it, how much do you really know about the book of Revelation? Maybe you’ve read some popular novels based on it or saw some late night TV preacher drone on about when the end of the world would happen. But when was the last time you picked up Revelation and read it for yourself? If you’ve ever attempted to, then you know how challenging it can be. We are easily intimidated with all the symbols, imagery, and warfare, not to mention the seven-headed dragon that tries to eat a baby. What’s that supposed to mean? How can we know anyway?
This is all rather unfortunate because this “revelation” from John to us is not only packed with pastoral counsel and instruction, but it is a clarion call for us to live each day in light of the high stakes of eternity. It’s the only book of the Bible that promises us a blessing just for reading it! As we do, we are assured that in Christ, we are more than conquerors.
