Marcella Pendergrass, originally from Flint, Michigan, has been an activist and educator her entire life. As you'll hear, she grew up listening to her parents and grandparents discuss civil rights, union actions and Black History from a very young age. As early as Junior High she was active in her Youth Chapter of the NAACP and went on to teach and uplift young mothers and disenfranchised people from Michigan to Seattle. Her story is inspiring and activating - for me it is a kick in the pants to better educate myself on Black History and to be a better ally in the fight against racism. The time is now.
