A few years ago I spent some time in Bergen in Norway. I did the usual tourist itinerary: taking the Fløibanen up the mountain of Fløyen, sightseeing on Bryggen, visiting Gamle Bergen Museum and finally checking out Vestnorsk Jazzensemble. That’s where I met the DJ known as Gilles Pedersen. First off that is a pseudonym, a playful tribute to the UK’s slightly better known selector, but to be honest, the Norwegian Gilles is singing off the same hymn sheet, as you will find if you check this mix. All I can say is you don’t like this music, then ‘du er tonedøv,’ as they probably say in Norway.
