TOM INGRAM SHOW #300 - Rockin 247Radio

The first time I saw Tom spin was on a warm July evening at the Camden Workers Club in 1986.I was completely awestruck by what I heard(and saw that night)and things would never be the same for me again. I had previously, as a very young-looking 15/16 y.o been denied entry to Shades in Manor House and Silks in Shepperd's Bush while still at Secondary School a year or two previous I had managed to get into the Electric Ballroom on a Saturday night and gone upstairs but this was a very small venue with the main part of the Club playing disco.I had then left to go live Stateside and had come back for a visit. I met an old school pal of mine at Swiss Cottage and we took the bus to Chalk Farm and walked the rest of the way. The Music Tom was playing was unlike anything I had ever heard before. Giant Rock'nRoll Classics mixed with hardcore Rockabilly, British Rock n Roll greats, smooth Doo-Wop, and late 40's early 50's R&B with a mixture of other great Tracks and styles of music from the same era, all played really, really loud!!. I was hooked from the point on. However, If you had told me that I would be listening to Tom spin over 35 years later via a computer in Phoenix Arizona I would have choked on my pint in disbelief, yet here I am in 2021 listening to the show in the background while I work on restoring my 1956 Ford Mainline or driving to work. So many things have changed in my life since the first time I walked into that hall but my love of the music has never waned. A fan (literally) for life
