Playing tracks by
Ray Bryant and Aretha Franklin with the Ray Bryant Combo.
Raphael Homer "Ray" Bryant was a great jazz pianist and composer of one of the best songs in the world, Cubano Chant. He had a lot of good, almost unknown or at least quite rare albums. Many hip hop producers sampled nice breaks and beats from those albums.
I've played some weeks after his death, June 2, 2011 two memorial mixes in my weekly radio show at Tilos Radio, Budapest.
In this first part 21 songs from 11 of his albums, the following ones:
Ray Bryant Trio, 1957, Alone With The Blues, 1958, Aretha with the Ray Bryant Combo, 1962, Lonesome Traveler, 1966, Slow Freight, 1967, Take A Bryant Step, 1967, Up Above The Rock, 1968, MCMLXX, 1970, Alone at Montreux, 1972, In The Cut, 1974, Here's Ray Bryant, 1976
