June 25, 2017 - Pastor Barry Clair - The Narrow Road Part 2, The Arduous Journey
John Bunyan, the great English and Puritan preacher, in 1678. wrote one of Christianity's most popular and classic books.
It has been translated into 200 languages and has never been out of print. The book is called The Pilgrim's Progress.
The plot centers on the main character whose name is Christian. It chronicles his arduous journey from his hometown, the "City of Destruction" to the "Celestial City." It's a great book.
In the story, when faced with a decision at the bottom of the Hill of Difficulty, Christian makes this poetic statement,
"This hill, though high, I covet to ascend;
the difficulty will not me offend.
For I perceive the way to life lies here.
Come, pluck up, heart; let's neither faint nor fear.
Better, though difficult, the right way to go,
than wrong, though easy, where the end is woe."
