Ant Hamlyn is a graduate of Liverpool Hope University who has been undergoing a residency in the gallery at FACT in Liverpool. His piece called The Boost Project explores how social media is used to seek validation.
The interactive piece inflates and deflates as it receives a like or is tagged with #theboostproject it will gradually increase in size until reaching its peak. If ignored, it begins to deflate. And it can be interacted with from the website theboostproject.biz where there is also a live webcam.
We spoke to some Liverpool Hope University students who told us about their social media usage and how long they spend on social media, and also to Ant Hamlyn who displayed his work at FACT.
