Urban Alliance is a youth development organization that empowers under-resourced youth (seniors in high school) to aspire, work, and succeed through paid internships, formal training, and mentoring. Since 1996 with the help of professionals across DC, Baltimore, Chicago, and Northern Virginia, there are now Interns working at a vast array of businesses in these cities. Some of the UA Northern Virginia partners include Evolent Health, the US Patent and Trademark Office, Marriott, Virginia Hospital Center, Virginia Tech, and Bank of America. Their model works: 100% of UA Interns graduate high school, 90% get accepted to college, and 80% enroll in college- rates that are much higher than their peers. If you have a few moments, here’s a short video clip to hear from employers and Interns alike about how the program is mutually beneficial.
