Playing tracks by
Jason Falkner, The Grays, Yo la tengo, Amor De Dias, Julia Kent and more.
We started the show this week with 2 Jason Falkner connections, first from his 2nd solo album, then a track from The Grays from a lost classic of an album, Ro Sham Bo, 1994 (pic). That's prog/power pop of the highest order right there.
Then two albums I’m loving lately, the Yo La Tengo and Amor de Dias, one drone pop and the other a kind of chamber folk. Beautiful stuff, whatever you want to call em.
Julia Kent likewise, just one woman and a cello, from her upcoming album, and then the compelling kosmische sound of Cork’s Grave Lanterns (they play at The Pavilion in town Thurs night). They sit comfortably beside Ty Segall and KXP, who came later in the show. In between, we had Karl Bartos, ex-Kraftwerk, and Slow Place Like Home with more great pulsing soundscapes.
And a track from the new Philip Glass Remixed project, featuring the great man plus friend to the show Peter Broderick.
