The Soap Company have always thought that if the music is good enough, it doesn’t matter where it’s from and although America and the UK are masters at flooding the whole world with brilliant music, we’re not so good returning the favour from non-English speaking countries despite such easy access.
One of the places we’ve always found truly amazing music has been Japan whose musicians are simply world beaters at any style they turn their hand to.
From brain mangling 8-Bit Electronica through to the funkiest of Nu-Jazz on through the wild banshee wailing of all-Female Punk bands to sweet sublime Indie Folk finishing on the most honey filled J-Pop, some of which is so rich, you can barely listen to more than one track at a time, there is always something that gives away the spirit of this amazing country inside the grooves which makes this music completely stand apart from it’s Western counterparts.
Here’s a mix of our faves originating from the Land of The Rising Sun.
