Bunked school to go to the local Virgin on the day 'Never Mind The Bollocks' came out. Got there at 10am and they'd already sold out, but more were on their way.
Must have heard the thing 3 times all through on their huge sound system before the next boxes arrived...We dived in and came away, £2.99 lighter, gripping a wafer thin piece of plastic in a dayglo sleeve (which we proudly paraded around with under our arm in the hopes of outraging some Grannies on the 164 days later).
Every Saturday we trawled for treasure with fellow journeymen, a trip to Our Price, Goodness, a couple more we can't remember, before finishing up at Bonaparte by the station and checking the new imports and coloured vinyl which hung temptingly on the wall before parting with every last penny that wasn't bus fare to 'Stupid-Face' behind the counter. Those were the days...and then back to blast them out.
There was never a time like it...This is a swift reminder of what made our hair stand on end though. Enjoy.
