This week on The Sixties - we fulfil a listener suggestion and dig up some alternate versions, outtakes and unique 45 mixes. Hearing some of these versions, in many ways, is like hearing the songs again for the first time. It provides a whole new perspective on what was finally released. From an extended version of Paul Revere & The Raiders "The Great Airplane Strike" to Barry McGuire's "California Dreaming" - the later of which features the Mamas & The Papas and a track they would later simply remove McGuires lead vocals from to create what would become their first big hit! Neil Diamond's seldom heard mono 45 mix of "Solitary Man"-which differs considerably from the commonly heard stereo version, and early demo versions of tracks from the Byrds, The Lovin' Spoonful & More!
