It appears even the New York Times has caught wind of the millions in free-flowing dollars in political donations in British Columbia.
A story from Times reporter Dan Levin is headlined: “British Columbia: The ‘Wild West’ of Canadian Political Cash.”
The report highlights that Premier Christy Clark can top up her salary of $195,000 dollars with up to $50,000 a year, financed by political donations to the BC Liberals, and also that B.C’s conflict of interest commissioner has contributed to the party and his son serves in the cabinet.
Those touchy subjects have landed the Commissioner in court, as watchdog group Democracy Watch seeks to have a 2016 ruling clearing the premier of conflict turfed.
