Pod Three - LIVE FROM BRANSON, MISSOURI - America is having its deadliest drug crisis in its history

America had more drug overdoses in 2015 than in any other year in US history. 52,000 died, of which two thirds were linked to prescribed opioids like OxyContin and Fentanyl. Why were so many Americans overprescribed with drugs, and why are they killing so many people? I spoke to Mark Kleiman, professor of public policy at New York University Wagner. Yesterday I spoke about the row over the taking down of Confederate era monuments and statues in New Orleans. Today I wanted to get more into that debate. Surely rewriting history and smashing statues isn't the right way to deal with America's troubled history? I spoke to Kenny Francis from the campaign group Indivisible NOLA (New Orleans Louisiana) to find out more. Jon Gaunt is travelling Route 66, bringing you the views of real Americans on the first 100 days of Donald Trump's presidency.
