Podcast #7: 14.02.11 A Black Classical Mix

Playing tracks by

Duke Ellington, Tito Puente Orchestra, Brazilian Protest Group, Quarteto Novo, Jef Gilson and more.

No Valentine's love for us this year but we can console ourselves with the first of hopefully many heavyweight guest mixes from some of the UK's biggest jazz heads. Stepping up for the first installment is the now infamous deeper than deep Blackclassical. When this dropped in the inbox early Saturday afternoon, we knew we just had share it with the world, and as usual he doesn't disappoint, delivering a fierce mix not for the faint of heart. Kicking off with a righteous and raw "Bustin' Loose" by the Locke Saints Band, the mix takes in a host of percussive, big band jazz dancers, deep Latin workouts and Brazilian bangers cultimating in one long and enjoyable 50 plus minute ride. Who needs flowers and chocolates eh?

Check it out and make sure you show him some love over at his http://www.mixcloud.com/Blackclassical spot.
