The Blue Bus 19-JUL-18

Chart positions

This show was 1st in the global classic rock chart and 1st in the global community radio chart.

This week, 19 Jul 2018, The Blue Bus route sign reads 'THE SOFT PARADE!' As Forest marks the 49th anniversary of the 4th studio album from The Doors. At the time, most critics weren't enamored with the added horns and orchestrations and would have preferred a return to the style of their first two impressive albums. Ride on! Turn on, Tune in, Drop out! ☮ ♥ & ♫

Johnny Switchblade

I am one of those people who liked "The Soft Parade" a lot more on revisiting it then on the first listen, although I still think it was an unwise decision to let Robbie Krieger sing on "Runnin' Blue." You picked all the best tunes from that album for this show anyway, although I also like "Do It." I know about the restrictions, though. ;) It was also fun to hear Santana, Stones, Simon & Garfunkel, and the legend that is Peter Green. I liked how you followed Creed's cover of "Riders On The Storm," where they kinda left out the classic electric piano sound of the original, with Joni Mitchell's "Woodstock," which she plays entirely by herself on an... electric piano. That made up for the lack of piano on the previous cut (not to mention they're in the same key.) So slick... Mahalo, and Ride... On... Baby! 🎈☀️

The Blue Bus

Thank you Johnny. I liked parts of it as well. Wild Child is particularly pleasing to my ears. Thanks for noticing the key matches. It's not just about throwing songs together and calling it a radio show, right sire!? So slick... Mahalo, and Ride... On... Baby! 🎈☀️
