‘Just do it’, the second Chronicle documentary, explores the hidden history of volunteering on Charles Street. It uncovers how voluntary organisations took the initiative to tackle issues which affected society in the 1970s. The actions of the Rights and Information Bureau and Cardiff Community Concern are explored to reveal how Grassroots came into existence. Grassroots is an organisation that aids youths in Cardiff and still operates on Charles Street today.
Chronicle is a two-year community heritage project led by Voluntary Community Service (VCS) Cymru and supported by a grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund. Our aim is to collect and gather stories about volunteering and volunteer work in Cardiff from 1914-2014 and make them available to the public.
