This is the second show on sea and sailor songs, broadcast because of huge interest (and way too many songs being sent to me on the subject) in the first show, which was broadcast several months previously. In this show there is new material, and a sneak peek at a forthcoming album, from Flaming June. There is also material from the new album of Emily Portman. I chose to close this show with an extraordinary piece of Taiko Drumming, written about the Tsunami that hit Japan in 2011; the taiko was written and performed by York group Kaminari Taiko. There is also a live recording of a beautiful new piece from Stephen Matthews which was written in response to, and was inspired by, Maria Barham's song 'Siren', which was broadcast in the first show on the subject.
