Sultan El Rhazi, is an accomplished artist and filmmaker. He was born in Washington DC, and settled in his youth with his parents in Oran Algeria in 1986 and currently is based in Bordeaux, France. He went on and studied from 1995 to 1999 at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts de Grenoble. Later his studies continued at the Institute des Hautes Etudes en arts plastiques in Palais de Tokyo, Paris in 20044. He worked as a cartoonist in the national newspaper La nouvelle République in Algeria in 2001. Sultan has made a large number of art displays between 1997 and 2011 in different countries, including: France, Italy, Germany, and Tunisia. Throughout his work there is a constant questioning of the relationship of the formation of images and the modes by which the image is exhibited. Sultan El Rhazi is also the creator of the soundtrack in the documentary "le Desert" directed by Elisabeth Mignon in 2007.
