Why was Pretty Boy Floyd a divisive figure?

Author: [Christian Ford]

Interviewer: [Steve Aderton]

[During the Great Depression, Pretty Boy Floyd marauded the mid-West robbing banks and creating chaos. His legacy has gone down with the great cowboy heroes of the Wild-West like Wild Bill Hickok and Jesse James. But this criminal divided the nation into two separate groups. Farmers hailed him as the “Sagebrush Robin Hood” and their champion, while the F.B.I. labeled him Public Enemy no. 1. His exploits were exaggerated to legendary proportions by both sides, making it difficult to determine who Floyd really was. ]
