Oh sure many, perhaps most, do believe in God, it’s just that they believe in a God who sort of hangs around in the background, perhaps being supportive, watching and waiting, but not very present. Perhaps many people believe in the Clockmaker God: the one who makes the clock, which then operates independently of God. Maybe, even, God comes back now and again to wind up the clock, but other than that, God is absent.This is not a biblical understanding of God. In the bible, God does things.
