STEPS Seminar at the Institute of Development Studies, 9 September 2016.

In this talk, Tania Murray Li, Professor of Anthropology at the University of Toronto, discusses politics as 'the practice of critique'. Politics may start with dissatisfaction or dissent, and involve stubbornness or resistance in many every day forms, but it is not always 'articulated' (made explicit or joined up to wider movements). Prof Li discusses these ideas through illustrations from two cases in Indonesia where she has worked. The talk is followed by a Q&A.
