This week on State of the Arts NYC our theme is FLUTTERING BENEATH THE AUTUMN SKY. And we are talking with guests who have changed the landscape of NYC’s art and pushed those boundaries into new neighborhoods, creating possibilities. We have gallerists Gavin Brown and Anke Kempkes who have recently opened new spaces in East and West Harlem. They will share what inspired them to make these bold moves. Then we have artist Mami Kosemura who is visiting NY from Japan where she will exhibit contemporary Japanese photography inspired by our city and showing at the Dillon Gallery this November in Chelsea. Following is Susan Fenley, Executive Director of Staten Island’s Sundog Theater. Her company makes performance come alive in non-traditional places.
Lastly, we will have a short segment about the impact of the Mercury retrograde on Air and Fire signs by astrologer Fernando Prudhomme.
