We who follow the Roman calendar are bout to tuck another year under our belts, and I'm nursing an inflamed tendon with electric pulses. Woo, 2016. Anyway, this show isn't a review by any stretch of the imagination, but a survey of whatever music, new or old, I've gathered since the last show. That includes upcoming releases - the soda fizz of Halfsour, the quirky netherworld of Paul Hawkins & The[e] Awkward Silences, the urgent gyrations of Bernays Propoganda - not-so-recent cuts from earlier this year - like FKA Twigs, Killing Joke, Mbongwana Star, and Dengue Fever - and distant glimpses in a time capsule from the 1980s, via Yaz, The The and Normil Hawaiians. Plus, 14 minutes of tape cuttings and alien signals courtesy of another surreal Blue Tapes signing, Chemiefaserwerk. So, y'know. The usual.
Pictured is Kurt Schwitters' "Revolving", a Dada assemblage from 1919. Because the definition of Dada is "why not?"
