The Soul Of The Beatles

Playing tracks by

Billy Preston, Aretha Franklin, Al Green, Joe Williams, Ella Fitzgerald and more.

George Harrison was the Soul Man among the Beatles. In an interview he mentioned how happy he was, that Otis Redding signed one of his LPs! "You've Got My Respect, Otis!". Harrison also said how much he appreciated James Brown's cover version of "Something". I hope I don't embarrass the dedicated Beatles fan by presenting what I call "The Soul Of The Beatles". Hope you enjoy!

Just looked it up - wasn't Herb Alpert's band - it was someone else in the same style :-)

Always an education but in this case also a reminder of some of the best Lennon & McCartney covers ever made. One of the first records I was ever given was an album of their songs done by The Tijuana Brass back in the early 70s so I've truly grown up with these melodies. Thanks for another very enjoyable mix!
