Groove Thang

Chart positions

This show was 1st in the global groove chart, 3rd in the global soul chart, 3rd in the global funk chart and 4th in the global jazz chart.

Feel like groovin’ a little bit …

Pictured: Bill Cosby & Quincy Jones on their album "The Original Jam Sessions from 1969" and represented through track 4, which is the first unedited take of the much sampled "Hikky-Burr"!

Post scriptum: "Sou Negro" is somehow a cover version from an intrumental by the James Brown Band ("After You Done It"). The lady who is singing on the Herbie Hancock tune is Vicki Randle. "Hot Pants Road" is an intstrumental by saxophonist St. Clair Pinckney. A tune that he wrote for James Brown. A great cover version here. And how cool is that Duke Ellington tune played by Dr. John? Finally Fred Wesley plays on track 11 as guest and he recorded the tune also on his newest studio album: "With A Little Help From My Friends", Song: "Beautiful".
